The momentum is with us. The growing public consensus is that we must, as a nation, kick the carbon habit and redirect incentives towards clean, renewable energy sources. We CAN have the energy we need without destroying the planet —we just need to muster the will.

VOICE YOUR OPINION for BREATHABLE AIR in the USA Ask your Legislators to place a national moratorium on building new, polluting, coal-burning power plants. Coal burning is one of the biggest contributors to harmful climate change. Dozens of new coal-fired power plants are now being planned across the nation. These should not be built unless they can capture and store their emissions safely, and preferably convert those emissions into a clean viable resource.

Require electric utilities to generate at least a percentage of their electricity from the wind, oceans, biomass, geothermal, and other clean, renewable sources by 2020. Utilities should invest in clean, renewable sources of energy instead of coal. This would be good for jobs, consumers, the environment, the climate, and the personal health of ourselves, our children, and grandchildren.

As Americans, we must take back responsibility for our land and our health, from those whose greed would steal our quality of life. This country of abundance can support our needs if we demand proper management of our resources.
